A weekend at the Palladio

The Palladio at Broadstone is one of our favorite go-to places off the grid. There is so much to do; catch a movie at the theater, shop ‘til you drop for every member of the family, dance to a band during the summer concert series and there’s much more at every change of the season like the fall festival in October.  Not to mention, a number of choices for bites and libations.  



Here are some of our picks…



Chicago Fire is a local Folsom staple, since the original one was opened in

downtown historic Folsom, so it’s not surprising there’s a location at the Palladio.  Chicago Fire is fun and casual. A perfect place for the whole family with deep dish pizzas and award winning chicken wings. We ordered the signature deep dish combo pizza, extra hot (award winning) wings, the grilled pear salad and the spinach salad. To quench our thirst we had the Raspberry Lemon Drop and Chicago Linen which is Chicago Fires take on the Shady lady’s White Linen.

Back Bistro is a gem for the Folsom area that serves up California cuisine and unique craft cocktails

in tasteful setting without breaking the bank.  It’s a perfect date night setting or evening with friends. During our visit, we got to enjoy their happy hour. We ordered the Local Heirloom Tomatoes and Steak & Potatoes pair with two of the signature cocktails; New York Sour and Whisky Verde.  The mixed heirloom tomatoes were fresh and juicy and harvested from local farm in keeping with the spirit farm to fork.  Steak & potatoes were medallion shaped steak cooked perfectly, medium rare, over potatoes with a garlic aioli and balsamic reduction.  It was hearty but not overly filling.



The cocktails were exceptional. What made the New York Sour unique was the red wine float.  There is a splash of red wine at the top of the drink makes a beautiful presentation the contrasting colors.  Whiskey Verde is a perfect summer drink. The flavor notes are fresh with the cucumber, mint and basil.

Buckhorns at the Palladio stands out from other Buckhorn locations because of their Fire Bar, an open grill right in the center of the restaurant where the grill master cooks from. We sat right in front of the Fire Bar where we got to see the grill master work his magic. It’s the best seat in the house in our opinion. The smell, the flashes of the flames and the heat that resonates; there’s just something so memorizing about an open fire cooking.  From the Fire Bar we order Shrimp Skewers, Jalapeño poppers and the Pineapple Lava Pork wood fire flatbread. The bartender recommended for drinks the Scarlet Letter, tequila, lime, hibiscus and orange bitters, for my brother and for me the Smokey Old Fashioned; rye whiskey, demerera, angostura and orange bitter with a smoked king rock.

Brisas do Sul Brazilian Steakhouse is a place to indulge. True Brazilian style steakhouse with hand carved meats at your tableside. They offer 3 options, Full Rodizio Experience with 12-13 different styles of meat.  They also offer lighter option, Rodizio way, with 6-7 cuts of meats, as well as vegetarian option.  They have a full bar with authentic Brazilian cocktails and small bites bar options too.

Mas Taco is where we ended our time with our exploration at the Palladio and what better way to end things is with dessert.  The Key Lime Tart and of course the Churros with the Mexican chocolate ganache and caramel dipping sauces were our choices.  We also had the Watermelon Basil Margarita and the Jalapeno margarita. But if you’re wanting more than just dessert, Mas Taco has very unique tacos that fuse flavors from around the world and that fusion is seen throughout their menu.  They don’t just have tacos they offer bowls, small bites and even serve brunch on the weekends.
