Sacramento’s Starbucks Reserve bar is officially open and Sac Food and Booze was invited to check it out. The Reserve bar has floor to ceiling windows which gives it open and spacious feel and a large bar that you can sit at and watch baristas at work. They have even included a bit of a basketball theme in the décor with the numbered bleachers along the far wall to tie in its neighbor the Golden 1 Center.
Maggie our barista for the night was wonderful and was full genuine excitement about the opening of the Reserve bar here in Sacramento. Her knowledge of coffee and preparation of it is extensive and this is what you can expect with all the baristas there. Columbia Geisha and Vietnam were the two coffees we picked out to taste both prepared with a syphon. The Geisha was light with aromatics of wildflower, pineapple and mango flowers. In contrast the Vietnam was deep with notes of kola nuts, toffee and vanilla. Both coffees were clean tasting and oh so delicious. The syphon is one several brewing technics they exclusively offer at the Reserve Bar, in addition to what a standard Starbucks offers. In addition, the Reserve bar offers coffee and ice cream beverages too. A favorite was the Cold Brew Malt; a thick malted milkshake with cold brew.
Starbucks Reserve bar certainly stepped up their game with this concept and it’s exciting to explore more of the Reserve menu and what they have to offer.
The Reserve bar is located on 630 K Street.
